Ok, so I am not blogging 365

You can’t really blame me. I have had a lot on my plate since Jan. 1. But, there is hope! There is always hope. Thank GOD!

Here in list form is the haps going on in our house in the last week or so.

  • Son won’t stop drumming. It is driving. us. crazy.
  • Family plots regularly how to destroy said drumming and hide drumsticks. (drumsticks have been made out of various materials including sticks, knitting needles, straws with painters tape all over them, and broken toy parts)
  • Constantly looking for the cans of nuts and other lidded vessels that have been confiscated to make drums. Think we should get him a dang drum set and just be done with it?
  • Work is slowing down, but gearing up to get ready for the end of the school year and work on keeping us open for next year. Enrollment is not looking so good right now, so who knows. We need a miracle!
  • I’ve been trying to get back into choir, but it seems to be eluding me. I missed Sunday’s service to help at another church and so I’m not really participating as much as I should be.
  • Jon is done with his conference and I am glad to see him again. Between his travel and heavy work load and my trip to STL, I have missed him.
  • Lauren is done with her UIL Choir competition, they got all 1’s and medaled! It was a lot of work to get them there and they did great! I am so proud of her for digging in and giving it her all to be a part of the “team”. It takes dedication to learn complicated music and practice for hours and hours every week.
  • Lauren also participated in a Speech Competition last week and although she didn’t make it past the first qualifying round, she gave it her 100% best. It was a big deal to have 2 of her events make it into the competition, so I am doubly proud of her and she is proud that she tried too! Go Lauren!!
  • We went swimming this Saturday. It was fun, but I think I pulled some muscles. I did some “water aerobics” and I think I hurt myself. I also found a new swim top that is super cute. My friend has the same one from Target, so we can’t swim together or we’ll be twinkies. LOL
  • American Idol is back in full swing at my house every Wednesday. It always runs so late, but we have a great time visiting and catching up on each other’s weeks. I think a few are irritated that we don’t just sit and watch, that we watch, eat, talk, watch, talk, talk, talk, and then watch! LOL Oh well…we can’t help it. We’re girls!
  • Oh! I have discovered a new sin. They are called Oreo Cakesters. Watch out if you know what is good for you. They are innocent at first and then you find you want to eat the whole box. I am going to have a few boxes on hand for AI this week as my contribution. Let the sin begin!

Pretty much our week in a nutshell. I don’t have a whole lot to talk about, well that’s not true. I have a lot to share, but I feel lazy about forming my thoughts into coherent sentences and the spelling! Oy, that’s annoying. :o)

Hope you guys have an awesome week. I get to go to work tomorrow! Yay! And then choir and AI on Wednesday, Men’s group for Jon on Thursday, and then Friday glorious Friday. Saturday brings a luncheon with Debily ( I didn’t forget!) and then Sunday brings Church. Monday brings sleeping in and cleaning  and my Dad’s surgery. Pray for him and a speedy recovery!
And then PAYDAY!! WHOOT! So I wish you all happy Sunny days and all that optimistic crap.

I’m really ok…really!

Are you buying it yet? I am convincing myself that I am, therefore I will be.

A week or so maybe longer, I posted about being sad and taking on the burdens of the world. Well a very good friend of mine is sick and is going through a very rough time right now with her illness. I won’t go into detail because I want to respect her privacy here, but I wanted to mention it because (and we all know this is all about me, right?) I am feeling really helpless right now and I don’t always know how to cope with my emotions and some ways I cope are not productive; i.e. sleeping, or leaving the Christmas Tree up until February. I am working helping her in ways I can and leaving the rest up to God.
Valerie, you probably won’t read this, but know I love you and I am pulling for you. I am here to be a shoulder to cry on and a friend to lean on when you need to.

On the work front: We will be open for business next year (the school I work at) but we are still unsure of what that will entail. It’s a stressful process trying to come up with numbers, curriculum, and the other thousand things we need to start off another year in the fall. I just hope that I will want to work there in the fall. Right now it’s totally an unknown.

On the home front: I have a list as long as Santa Clause of things that need to be done. Where we will find the time to do them, I don’t know, but they have to get done. Again, I tend to put things off when I am stressed. Things like, taking the Christmas tree down. Jon brought in the ornament box, so we are one step closer to taking it down. Laundry, always laundry. Getting the house ready for American Idol party I keep putting off because my house isn’t cleaned up. I seriously need to get a new toilet seat for the kids bathroom. Take my advice, don’t get a wooden seat. If you home is like mine and it’s humid in the bathroom because it doesn’t have a window and the fan is 30 years old, don’t get a wooden seat. Stick with the plastic. Oh and don’t get a wooden seat with silver toned hinges either, they tend to rust and combined with a bubbly warped seat you have a real good chance of being nominated for hillbilly toilet seat of the year. I’m just saying. Let’s see..what else have we neglected to do around our house that I could put on our to do list? Huh..I got nuthin’. That must be it. Cool.

On the other fronts: or backs: The kids are fine. Jon is fine. I am fine. My Dad is going to be fine. He has surgery on the 5th of Feb. to remove a mass in his neck. We don’t know for sure what it is yet, but we will on the 5th sometime.
I am cooking for a Valentine’s Banquet in Feb. for 100 people. Should be fun. We are having salad, roasted pork medallions with orange-rosemary glaze, green beans almondine, and creamed mashed potatoes, homemade rolls, and chocolate-raspberry cake with whipped cream for dessert. I haven’t cooked for 100 people in 2 years and I will have lots of help ( Hi Sherri!!) so it should be fun- but who knows! LOL

Time to get ready for Wednesday night church and choir. Tootles!

Oh Hi!

I didn’t see you there. No, I didn’t forget about you. Yes, I said I was blogging for 365 days this year, but you know how things go. We get busy, we work, and we have to sleep at some point, so by the time I catch up on my blog reading, it’s time to go to bed not post something. My Mom (CA Connection) has been gracious enough to post on the days it seems I am buried under my own laundry. I think Ill continue to let her post at will….I’m enjoying the surprise of opening my browser and seeing a post that I didn’t make! Fun stuff!!

Lots to do in the coming days. Hopefully I’ll update soon. Hey Mom? Let the good people know what I’m up to will ya?! Thanks! Love ya!

You know this whole blog 365 thing?

yeah well, I didn’t factor in life…and work..and SLEEP. I have been doing a lot of the first two and not a whole lot of the third, but that is just the way it is.

I resolved to blogging more and when I can I will. I don’t feel the pressure to blog everyday even tho I joined the blog 365 group as a member and the whole ::mocking tone:: “I’m going to blog for 365 days this year! Wanna join me?” thing. Yeah whatever.

I’ll write when I get around to it. So there. :p
Thanks Mom for guest blogging on the days I missed! I know you didn’t plan it that way, but it worked out well. Now Leslie? Where did you go? I thought you had stories to tell?? Spill it sister!

Time waits for no one….

1:36 AM 12/21/2006
We are leaving for St. Louis today. Because it’s today already. Last year when we traveled across the country, I would write offline in Notepad and date and time stamp all my entries. I think I will do that this time and see what happens along the way. We always have such a good time in the car on road trips together, only this time the kids won’t have thier own DVD player to keep them entertained. I am sure the trip home will be a different story with all the things they are sure that Santa is going to bring them. I hope that they will sleep and it will be quiet and then Jon and I can sing to our favorite songs because we both have our OWN zen. 😀
I am looking forward to seeing my Mother, sister, and Dad. It has been over a year and a half since we have seen Mom. I hope she is feeling better and prepared for all the kids to be in her face and loving on her and Dad, and Leslie too.
I guess we should head to bed, we have a long day ahead of us. I stayed up until 4:20 or so yesterday doing Christmas cards and wrapping presents. Tonight I even made dinner AND chocolate chip cookies. I rock.

Lambic on Tap

Went to BJ’s for dinner tonight. Had a raspberry beer with dinner. Have decided that I like it too much. Won’t be having that anytime soon.

On other news fronts. I am working on Christmas gifts. It’s a new hobby and like rubber stamping, I am fast becoming addicted. Someone stop me please. I do not need another craft to get into.

This is the last week for dinner theater. We had tonight off, a much needed rest.
Here is my list of to do’s for tomorrow:

MJ school
Work on stained glass panels for DT. (not real ones, make 7 years ago out of paper and cellophane)
Dress Christmas tree for Mary’s apt.
Return 2 pair pants to walmart, pick up a few items, and rebuy right size pants for Jon
Oh! forgot about that…pay bill at doctors office
Pick MJ up from school
Go back to church at 5:30pm for supper
Praise Team practice at 6:30pm until 7:30
7:45 until we are done, rehearse scenes 1-10 for Dinner Theater
Go home and collapse

I think Thursday will be an identical schedule except for last minute fixes for the set and such. I just hope my feet and back can hold out until it’s all over on Sat. night. But then I have to be up early on Sunday morning to sing on Praise Team. It doesn’t seem like there is an end in sight because after that, is the Ladies Silent Auction that I am a part of and then it’s a mad dash to clean the house from top to bottom because Jon’s Dad is going to be in town and then my Mom is next, then after a few days with her here, we all leave to St. Louis for Christmas! I think I will finally get a break on Jan. 2! Wooot!

I better go to sleep..its an early morning and a long day with even longer night!

Blog I must

seal_yoda.jpg Blog block. I have it sometimes. Not because I don’t have anything to write about. It’s mostly because I don’t want to bore my 3 readers to death. Whining, crying, and complaining, OH MY. I asked for this book by Margaret Mason for Chirstmas and it came early! I have thumbed through it and found some interesting ideas. Some were already floating around in my head this morning, but again, I’m professionally untrained at this, so it’s hard for me to form a good structure around my stories and make them make sense to the reader. I also want to be able to post something quick and fun without spending a hour editing and linking and then ultimately losing my post. All that to say, I signed up to do the NaBloPoMo over at Fussy.org. I am challenging myself to post everyday for the month of November. There’s going to be a random drawing for some prizes, but I am not so much interested in the prizes as I am honing my writing skills and coming up with cool things to post about.
